Donna! What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear or read the name ? Donna from the popular show Suits ? That’s what I thought but no! this article isn’t about her. Now that I think of it I wouldn’t mind writing about her because you know “ how Donna she is” (huge Donna fan 😎). Donna is a prefix given to a household woman or simply means a woman or a lady.
History talks and boasts of all kinds of strong and revolutionary women. We all know how difficult it was or still is to stand up against the male chauvinism yet ,they somehow found the courage to fight back for what was right.Women of valour! though less in number did leave an impact and paved the way for the future generations to act differently or maybe just inspired them to take step in the direction which the so called society deemed/deems inappropriate.
So , when we try to picture a strong woman it’s natural to think of all those in history who managed to achieve and make things better for women in present. All that is truly exceptional but, is bravery just limited to that ? For instance, hoping you have watched Netflix’s latest “SIR” where the female protagonist- the household maid though docile in nature makes impulsive decision to let go of a man she has developed a liking for - her handsome and wealthy boss and figures out it’s mutual when he attempts to kiss her and no he is not playing games with her he has some serious feelings for her . If you have experienced it ever, like when you are caught in the moment feeling weak and vulnerable it takes a lot to just let go! specially ,when you know it could change your life for better. She could have gained a lot out of the situation. The title of a reputed man’s wife/gf,the status of the so called “upper class” all that would have made the world look at her differently once and for all! Plus , who would not want to take that step to get rid of all the hardships? It’s amazing how her consciousness quickly calculated and arrived at the decision in a matter of few seconds ! That’s powerful stuff.If you haven’t watched it already , this is your cue.
That was just a reference or an example of how the power of a day today woman also lies in knowing what’s good for her and choosing not to put up with people or situations that could make her feel let down in the long run , however tempting they might feel at the moment.
It’s right when they say our life is all about the choices we make.Yes ! and it’s equally about the ones we don’t. Something to think of ! More power to women standing up for themselves 💪 class divisions can go to hell! This world would cease to exist without each and everyone of them.
